Our fourth homecoming

at EDC Orlando (EDCO)

It’s now November 2024 and many of our members are excited and preparing for our fourth “homecoming festival”; EDC Orlando. It’s now been 3 years since the spark of EDCO 2021 turned a casual whim of an idea into our wonderful community of nearly 12,000 members.

We’re Still Growing

It’s still a bit surreal, to our leaders and OGs, when we mention how many members we now have. Many of us remember the early days of only 100s of members and the exciting milestones of 500, 750, 1000, 5000, and recently 10,000 members.

We’ve added another 4,000 new faces to the group this past year, which is roughly our annual increase so far. Our leaders still screen every membership request to ensure peace and harmony in the group, maybe even more so now than in earlier years.

We leaders sometimes chat about whether we should try to recruit new members or just continue to grow organically. On one hand, we would love to connect with and add beautiful souls to our family more quickly. But, on the other hand, we are also content with things just as they are.

The Vibe

Even with so many members now, the core principles and calm energy that has always made our group special hasn’t changed. Our vibe is still so calm, that you don’t even notice just how many people are actively involved in discussions.

I guess we went through our “terrible twos” and had a handful of disruptive people join this year. But don’t recall more than 5 or 6 “dumpster fires” as I call them: posts or comment threads that incite arguing and disrespect amongst members. If a post or comment thread begins smoldering or erupts into a fire, our members are the first to quickly jump in to extinguish it and immediately contact our leaders.

Maintaining peace and PLUR in the group has always been a community effort. After such incidents is when you realize how much everyone truly values the PLUR environment that we build and maintain together. It’s also a time that leadership realizes how much members appreciate and value how quickly and decisively we respond to and stop such behavior.

Maintaining peace and harmony in discussions is leadership’s number one priority and we take it very seriously. Purposely disrupting our PLUR environment is one of the few things that can have you removed from the group. To be the topic of discussion in the leaders’ group chat, is not a good thing. “May the odds ever be in your favor”

More Connections

From day one, it was our hope and goal to reach and connect with Ravers from days gone by, who felt lost and alone, wondering if they were the only ones still on the dancefloor. Every day of every year makes us realize that we have accomplished that very important goal.

It’s still an amazing feeling to see so many members connecting with each other and attending events together. Whether someone is a new member, old member, shy, a social butterfly, or what; people are constantly connecting and creating new friends on and offline.

Thank You

It’s been our pleasure helping connect beautiful souls on and off the dancefloors yet another year and we look forward to our upcoming fourth year.
